Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
(ADHD) Assessment
Children and teenagers with ADHD may be easily distracted, appear forgetful, make simple mistakes and find it difficult to finish tasks. These symptoms can prevent children from fulfilling their potential as learners as well as presenting challenges at home.
We provide full testing, diagnosis, feedback and reporting of attention and concentration difficulties. An assessment for ADHD involves a parent interview to obtain background and developmental information as well as parent and teacher questionnaires. Psychometric testing helps to inform strategy development for the classroom and will typically involve assessment of:
-
Cognitive functioning
-
Aspects of attention and memory
-
Executive functioning
-
Academic achievement
A diagnostic assessment generally incorporates recommendations for ongoing support in the areas of learning, emotional well-being and regulation, social skills, home life and organisation.

Following an assessment ongoing support and cognitive-behavioural interventions are available. Additional assessment may be required if another disorder, such as a learning disorder, or if giftedness, is suspected.

Assessment and treatment are informed by the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance (CADDRA) Canadian ADHD Practice Guidelines (4.1 Edition) and the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA) Australian Evidence-Based Clinical Guideline for ADHD (30 July 2022).
