Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
(ADHD) Assessment
An adult ADHD assessment can be an important step in understanding one's challenges, abilities, strengths, and potential. We provide adult diagnostic assessments for individuals who suspect they may have ADHD. Common symptoms include difficulty paying attention and focusing, impulsivity and restlessness. Challenges with coping with stress and frustration, disorganisation and trouble with time management are other common experiences.
A comprehensive and individualised assessment can provide an understanding of these concerns and identify strategies to overcome barriers experienced at work and home.
We provide full testing, feedback and diagnosis of attention and concentration difficulties. An assessment for ADHD typically involves a clinical interview to obtain background information and clinical/developmental history. Psychometric testing helps to inform recommendations and generally includes an assessment of:
-
Cognitive functioning
-
Aspects of attention and memory
-
Executive functioning
Following the assessment ongoing support and cognitive-behavioural interventions are available. Additional assessment may be required if other disorders, such as learning disorders, or mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression, are suspected. Further assessment may also be required if giftedness is a consideration.
Assessment and treatment are informed by the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance (CADDRA) Canadian ADHD Practice Guidelines (4.1 Edition) and the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA) Australian Evidence-Based Clinical Guideline for ADHD (30 July 2022).
